Data contains above-ground dry matter yield (DMY) of monocultures and of two- and four-species mixtures of four species under ambient rainfed control
and drought conditions at two experimental sites over two years.
Only harvests used in the analysis in the associated paper are presented here, this includes three harvests per year at each site (out of a total
of 5 harvests per year at Wexford-IE and 6 harvests per year at Zurich-CH). These harvests represent DMY of the 1st regrowth during drought period,
the 2nd regrowth during drought period and the post-drought regrowth, in each of the experiment years.

Variables Format Description
Site categorical Name of the experimental site (Wexford-IE or Zurich-CH)
Year categorical Year of the growing season
Harvest categorical Number of harvest within the growing season
(For both Wexford-IE and Zurich-CH : 1 = 1st regrowth during drought period, 2 = 2nd regrowth during drought period, 3 = post-drought regrowth, in year 1;
and 4 = 1st regrowth during drought period, 5 = 2nd regrowth during drought period, 6 = post-drought regrowth, in year 2)
Main_Plot categorical Number of main plot, each comprising a pair of control/drought split-plots of the same stand located next to each other in the field
Split_Plot categorical Number of individual split-plot
Rep categorical Number of replicate in the field. Note that numbers of replicates differed for different communities in the design.(See main text of article.)
Drt_Treat categorical If experimental drought stress was applied (Drt) or not (Ctr)
Stand_No categorical Number of each stand type (1 - 15)
Stand categorical Type of stand according to the experimental design (Mono = monoculture, Bi = binary mixture, Equal = equi-proportional mixture, Dom = dominant mixture;
